Vision Nicaragua 2007

106.9 the Light Helps 2,074 Nicaraguan Children

Black Mountain, NC – December 13, 2007 – This past Tuesday, 106.9 the Light raised $87,070 to help needy children in the South American country of Nicaragua during the Christmas season.

During the day on Tuesday, December 11, Vision Nicaragua founder Val Mydske and Pastor Kevin Bennett relayed stories regarding the people of the small Nicaraguan refugee Village of El Bethel. Many of their stories involved the conditions endured by young children.

Listeners responded by helping to meet the needs of this area through support of medical services, educational opportunities and basic needs. It was an amazing response at a time of year when many would rather receive than give.

"In 7 1/2 hours, 828 of our listeners provided for 2,074 children and their families in a village that knows little more than hopelessness, early death and abject poverty,” said Jim Kirkland, General Manager of 106.9 the Light. “Each listener actually gave the gift of unconditional love through their financial gift."
