Listeners Respond to "Million Leader Mandate" Project in Iran

Black Mountain, NC – February 11, 2008 – On Thursday, February 7, 1,288 106.9 the Light listeners donated $206,770 to train 8,271 Christian leaders in Iran as part of mission organization EQUIP’s “Million Leader Mandate.”

The effort marks the 5th year in a row 106.9 the Light has partnered with EQUIP specializing in the development of effective international Christian leaders. The “Million Leader Mandate” began with the goal of training one million Christian leaders around the world; however, it has since trained more than 2,750,000 Christian leaders in 107 countries.

In the past, EQUIP’s program has reached countries such as Afghanistan, North Korea, Vietnam and Malaysia. This focus of the current effort is training leaders in Iran. Listeners of 106.9 the Light responded with the largest one-day fundraiser the station has ever had with a partnering ministry.

“People have a heart for reaching people with the ultimate truth found only in Jesus,” stated 106.9 the Light General Manager Jim Kirkland. ” The listeners caught the vision that it takes more than just theological training in order to lead the new believers that are rising up around the world. It also takes the study of Biblical leadership principles.”
