Chick-Fil-A and OCCLocal Radio Partners with Chick-fil-A & Operation Chirstmas Child
Black Mountain, NC – October 19, 2007 – Chick-Fil-A and 106.9 the Light will partner for a third year during Operation Christmas Child Collection Week to collect shoeboxes with gifts for children around the world.
During November 12 through 16, 106.9 the Light will travel to ten Chick-Fil-A restaurants in Asheville, Charlotte (2), Gastonia, Hendersonville, Hickory, Mooresville, Morganton, Shelby (North Carolina), and Spartanburg (South Carolina). Listeners were encouraged to drop off shoeboxes between 4:00pm and 8:00pm and received a free Chick-Fil-A sandwich for doing so.
The locations will collect during one dinner time during the week. A schedule will be posted on 1069thelight.org beginning November 1.
The partnership resulted in over 3,600 shoeboxes collected in 2006.
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse which provides an opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on missions outreach while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas – Jesus Christ, God’s greatest gift. Along with shoe box gifts, millions of children are given Gospel booklets in their own language. Last year, we collected over 7.6 million shoe box gifts worldwide and distributed them to children in 95 countries
