I'm currently reading the book "Grace for the Good Girl". I can relate in some ways.

I never really thought about it, but I guess I wear some masks also. Was always the girl who never got into trouble, did ok, was in church choirs, etc.

Can't wait to finish the book. Emily is an excellent writer.

Congratulations on your new bundle of joy! I am the proud parent of a beautiful, almost 2 year old little girl who happens to have Down Syndrome. She is such an amazing little girl who has shown me the meaning of real strength. She spent the first 3 months in the hospital and had open heart surgery at 3 months. She is amazing! I am an educator so I know that every child is unique in their learning so I don't have any limitations on what she can and will achieve. I know you will fall deeply and madly in love with your little guy as I have with my little girl.

We have a son, Daniel, who is almost 14 that was born w/Down Syndrome. God has blessed you with a very special baby boy. While the dreams and hopes that you had for this child may have changed, God planned out your baby's days from the beginning of time. The joy that this child is going to bring your family will far exceed what you can imagine. God's plan is right and good - He does not make mistakes. All children have issues of a various nature. May God continue to bless you and your family and watch over your son.

Aaron, as a mother of son with Down syndrome, I'd like to say "Welcome to Holland." If you haven't read that little story of a couple all prepared for their journey to Italy (life with a "normal" child), and their plane lands in Holland instead, you will. When our 3rd child, Brady, was born 20 years ago with DS we initially grieved the loss of that child we thought we would have. You can believe Rom 8:28 and think you understand God's sovereignty, but it is a process of grace in which your head knowledge connects with what your heart is feeling. I wrote an unpublished little book about this process, "A Book of Encouragement For Family and Friends Affected by the Birth of a Handicapped Child." I'd love to send it to you and your wife. God is indeed sovereign and his ways are far above our ways! God bless you and thanks so much for sharing on 106.9the Light radio. kirbyking@earthlink.net

Aaron, you have allowed suffering to be a blessing in your life, and it shines through in your testimony. In your testimony, you have focused on what God has revealed to you and yours, leaving the secret things to God (Deuteronomy 29:29). There is no sense of vain questioning in your witness, just the peace of accepting that our sovereign Lord knows best and that you are fine with that.

I've got to be honest, you're walk Rebecca has helped me to deal with the struggles of being single. One of the songs that has helped to put my mind in the right place is "I can trust you". Your marriage is a symbol of hope for people who are still living being single. Thank You!

I read this a month late, but I like the idea of making it a point to be thankful for at least one thing each day. I take the challenge. I am even going to start each day's journal entry this year (the old fashioned way - written) w/ what I am thankful for that day. Thank you for reminding us of something God says to do in everything -- give thanks (1 Thess. 5:18).
