Front Porch Sittin’ and Storytellin’

I love to spend time sitting on my front porch. I know that doesn’t sound especially adventurous or exciting to most people, but it is many times a great adventure for me.

I grew up with grandparents who would say, “Let’s go sit on the porch and solve the world’s problems.” Now, how in the world did they solve those problems? We would share stories of the past, the present and future. As stories would unfold, I could also see the picture unfold before me. This front porch time we shared together always generated for me excitement, exuberant love for my grandparents and a bright future full of hope.

As I sat on my porch this past week I thought of the stories I have the privilege of hearing daily through The Light. Stories of God’s work in the lives of people in the past, present, and future. I thought to myself, “I can sit on my porch and solve the world’s problems by deciding to take the step to share the hope of Jesus with everyone I meet.” It is exciting to me to know that you and I, together with The Lord, have the privilege of impacting lives through this radio ministry.

Maybe you would like to “help solve the world’s problems”, so to speak, by impacting a life today. You can read and hear stories now at thelightfm.org. Then, I challenge you to do some front porch sittin’ and tell your story to someone. Thank you for impacting lives with the hope of Jesus.

I love this story so much – you know Alice people do not sit on their front porches much anymore and we need to get back to that and take the time to sit on the front porch and look at all the beauty around us and talk to our neighbors and friends.

  2. Amen and Amen!
You know Satan is so cunning. Today even we Christians fall for his lies everyday. We even judge each other without knowing, by talking with one another about what someone did.
If Adam and Eve having not just a personal relationship but physical also. Could fall for his lies what makes is think were do special? We really do not have a chance !
It’s only by the grace of God, the all knowing King of Kings, that we are saved and protected from this world deceiver! And the battles are getting more intense !
So pray one for another, don’t speak so fast, listen to yourself! Go to your fellow Christian if they have Hirt their witness and pray. Tell them you understand and ask them to pray for you also because we all need the breastplate of armor don’t we! God loves ya and Jesus wants you!
